Protective wear
Instructions:
-
Surface Preparation: Clean and sand the repair area.
-
Mixing the Gel Coat: Measure and add the necessary amount of Gel Coat to a plastic mixing cup. For color, add pigment at a 1:20 ratio by volume — meaning for every 20 volumes of Gel Coat, add one volume of pigment. If using one of the basic colors, this may match the gel coat directly; otherwise, blend pigments to achieve the desired shade. Mix thoroughly until the color is consistent throughout.
-
Color Matching and Hardener Addition: On cardboard, mix the color-matched gel coat with hardener. Four drops per teaspoon of gel coat gives about 15 minutes of working time.
-
Application: Apply to the area, smooth it out, and remove excess.
-
Layering: Sand between layers if needed, especially if the gel coat includes wax.
-
Curing: Allow adequate time for each layer to cure before sanding or reapplying.
-
Finishing: Sand with 600 grit, then polish and wax.
Cleanup:
Wipe down tools with a suitable solvent and dispose of waste responsibly.
Tip:
Monitor environmental conditions and work efficiently within the gel coat's pot life. Always refer to the product sheet for detailed guidance.
